President's Profile


Prof. Roop Krishen Khar is a renowned academician and a research scientist. He obtained B.Pharm and M.Pharm degrees in the years 1971 and 1973 from Dr H S Gour VISHVAVIDHYALAYA, Sagar M.P. He did his Ph.D in 1986.He has served in various Administrative and Academic positions for more than 35 years at Jamia Hamdard in the capacities of DEAN and HOD of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dean Students Welfare, Placement officer and Proctor of Jamia Hamdard. He has supervised 58 Ph.D, 85 M.Pharm. thesis and published more than 275 research papers in International & National journals with cumulative impact points of more than 438; H index of 46 and citation of 9014. He has been the Principal Investigator of number of research projects funded by various government agencies and pharmaceutical industries for more than Rs. 4.50 crores and is the inventor of two US & one Indian patent and 14 Indian Patents have been filed. He has published fourteen text books, including the latest one, 4th revised edition (2013) of Leon Lachman Text Book of Industrial Pharmacy. Presently Prof. Khar is the Principal of B. S. Anangpuria Institute of Pharmacy, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Alampur, Faridabad(NCR), since 31st March, 2012. More than 15 students are working M. Pharm &Ph.D Degree currently under his supervision.He was thedirector of a leading Pharma Manufacturing company UNICURE (INDIA) LTD and Executive Director of a consultancy company PHARMALATORS KONCEPT LTD. He is the Chairman of Hippocrates Independent Ethical Committee and Good Society of Clinical Research and current president of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (Delhi Branch). Dr. Khar is the Fellow of Indian Pharmaceutical Association. He got “Teacher of the year Award in 2002” by Indian Pharmaceutical Teachers Association and “best cited Paper Award” in 2011 and 2012 by European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics. He has been the member of “Unani Pharmacopoeia Committee” (2008-2011).
